THE IMPORTANCE OF PERSONALIZED HYDRATION

ZNACZENIE PERSONALIZOWANEGO NAWODNIENIA

In our previous post, we mentioned that hydration is about more than just water. Today, we'll take it a step further: why shouldn't your hydration plan be a copy of your workout partner's?

In endurance sports, an individual approach is not a luxury - it is a necessity.

Every organism has a different story

In the world of sports, we often look for "golden rules" and ready-made solutions. The truth is, however, that when it comes to hydration, there's simply no such thing as a "one size fits all" rule. Each of us has a different body, a different sweat rate, and loses a different amount of sodium with each liter of sweat.

Key Personalization Factors

  1. Sweat Rate : Some cyclists and runners finish their workouts practically dry, while others look as if they've just stepped out of a pool. The differences can be dramatic – from 0.5 liters to over 2 liters per hour.

  2. Sodium Levels : Do you see white marks on your clothes or feel salt crystals on your skin after intense exercise? This is a sign that you're losing a lot of sodium. "Salty athletes" need to consume significantly more to avoid painful cramps and a dangerous drop in performance.

  3. Outdoor conditions : Your needs will be very different on a leisurely ride on a cool morning than on a demanding climb in bright sunshine.

How to create your own plan?

Start with a simple test: weigh yourself before and after an hour of high-intensity exercise (try not to drink during the workout for accuracy). The difference in weight is approximately your fluid loss per hour at a given temperature. This is your starting point.

If, despite drinking water, you feel chronically tired after a workout or frequently experience cramps, you're likely losing a significant amount of minerals. In this case, it's worth reaching for products with a higher sodium content, such as our salt capsules or isotonic drinks, which will replenish what's actually lost in your sweat.

Conclusions

Customizing your hydration is the difference between "surviving" the course and enjoying every kilometer in top form. Listen to your body, test different solutions during training, and never try new strategies right on race day.

Remember: Your hydration is as unique as your riding style.
